Juliana Buhring set to break world cycling record

In April 2012, Safe Passage Foundation director Juliana Buhring plans to break a world cycling record by circumnavigating the globe by bicycle in 140 days

Buhring is the first woman to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for circumnavigation by bicycle set by Vin Cox in August 2010 (having cycled 18,225.7 miles (29,331 km) in 163 days 6 hours 58 minutes).

The current route plan passes through 17 countries:

Italy, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Spain and France.

Buhring plans to use her attempt to break the world cycling record as an oppurtunity to raise awareness about the basic human rights of children and to raise money for Safe Passage Foundation's assistance fund to provide resources, support and advocacy and a safe transition for those born and/or raised in high-demand organizations.

To break the world record, Juliana needs your help with donations to cover the costs (currently estimated to be about 22000).   Any donations received that exceed the costs will be donated to Safe Passage Foundation.  To sponsor Juliana, please visit her web site or make a donation to Safe Passage Foundation

Mario Schiano has generously agreeed to donate a custom-built bicycle and parts.
